Triangles Pattern Type

All of our patterns start with three somewhat dark base colors and a fourth color which is used to lighten and brighten the other three. This fourth color is usually White, but we sometimes also use Tan, Yellow or Gray for other interesting effects. The finished product is called a "cane" and can be compared to a roll of slice-and-bake cookie dough where the pattern is visible in any cross-section.

The TRIANGLE cane begins as a 3-way partial Skinner blend between slightly-lightened versions of the base colors. It is rolled into a log in such a way that the blend is visible down the length of the log. The log is re-shaped into a triangle, cut in half, and re-assembled so that the face of it is a square made out of two base-to-base triangles. This square cane is reduced, cut into quarters and re-assembled multiple times, resulting in a variety of triangles in the three base colors and every color in between.
