Supplies
- 2 oz. Sculpey Premo White polymer clay
- Impression Obsession Tile Design stamps
- Staz-On ink pads or any permanant ink
- DecoArt One Step Crackle
- dark brown acrylic glaze or paint
- sharp clay blade
- pasta machine
- oven
- small paint brush
- pin vise with small drill bit
- 12mm jump ring
- length of cording
Instructions
Step 1
Condition the polymer clay and roll out a sheet on the thickest setting on the pasta machine.
Step 2
Stamp your tile images and let the ink dry.
Step 3
Cut out random tile shard shapes using a sharp, flexible clay blade.
Step 4
Bake your tile shards following the manufacturers instructions found on the clay packaging and let them cool.
Step 5
Brush a layer of crackle medium onto the tile shards. (Thick layer = big crackles; Thin layer = tiny crackles) Let dry approx 2 hours.
Step 6
Brush dark brown glaze or paint over the surface of your tile shards and then wipe off all excess. You want the glaze/paint to only remain in the crackles, not on the surface.
Step 7
Drill a hole at the top of the shard and put the jump ring through the hole.
Step 8
String the cording through the jump ring.
Variations/Final Thoughts
The shards can also be used in mosaic projects.
